Lamination Manufacturing Capabilities

A lamination core is only as good as the worst step that made it. So we keep the steps in-house. Below is what we actually run, not a brochure list.

Stamping

The default for volume. We run high-speed presses with progressive dies, and we maintain those dies properly. A dull die makes burrs, and burrs are local short circuits that quietly eat your efficiency. We keep burr height down to microns.

Laser Cutting & Wire EDM

For prototypes, complex geometry, and low-volume runs where a dedicated die makes no economic sense. Laser leaves a small heat-affected zone at the cut edge — we’ll tell you when that matters for your design and when it doesn’t. Wire EDM when you need the last word in precision.

Stress-Relief Annealing

Punching work-hardens the steel and locks stress into the lattice, which costs you permeability. A controlled anneal gives it back. We run it after punching, and we’re careful with C5 and other high-temperature coatings so the insulation survives the furnace.

Stacking, Welding & Interlocking

Three ways to hold a stack together, and the right one depends on what you care about most. Welding and interlocking give the best heat path through the stack — up to 30% better than glue — but they can create local paths for eddy currents. Interlocking needs no filler material at all.

Adhesive Bonding

Best interlaminar insulation and best damping, which means quieter cores and less vibration. Modern epoxy and silicone systems move heat far better than the old glues — up to 4 W/m·K — so bonding no longer means cooking your core. This is the usual choice for aerospace and high-vibration duty.

Insulation & Coating

C3, C4 and C5 per ASTM A976, plus polyimide and ceramic-filled systems rated for 220–250 °C service. The coating has to insulate, survive your process, and still punch cleanly. We’ll pick the family that does all three.

Tooling & Design Support

We can work from your drawing, or work alongside your engineers. Sometimes a small change to slot geometry knocks material cost out without touching performance. We’ll say so when we see it.

Prototyping to Production

One-off prototype to six-figure annual volume, same supplier, same process ownership. That matters more than people expect — the part you qualify is the part you get at scale.

Quality Control

Material certificates traced back to the mill, in-process dimensional checks, burr measurement, stack height and squareness, and a final inspection before anything ships. If your application needs documentation, we produce it.

Start with a drawing

Send the drawing, the annual volume, and the environment it has to live in. We’ll come back with a process route, a material recommendation, and a price.
